Our Portable Library
Our librarian, Ms. Kruetziger, stopped by our class today to checkout books since the library was been used for an event. As a teacher, I am excited to know that reading doesn't have to stop just because the library is closed! Thank you Ms. Kruetziger for all you do for my girls and boys!

A Community Wide Celebration of Reading
Today at 11:11 a.m. students throughout Dallas ISD spent 11 minutes of their day reading books, magazines, or other printed publications. Voluteers from all over the city joined this community wide celebration.
We were delighted to have Diane Stephenson, Area Development Director for the UNCF read to our class. She read Mrs. Edley's all-time favorite; Anansi and the Moss-Covered Rock by Eric A. Kimmel. The children were delighted to have her read to them. She emphasized that reading would prepare them for them from greater successes in their lives.

My Interview with Ms. Stefani Carter
On Tuesday, October 4th I had the pleasure to interview State Representative Stefani Carter. She is a lawyer here in the Dallas area. Ms. Carter attended college at the University of Texas and Harvard. She went to school for a total of 8 years. While in college she was a journalist for U.S.A Today. She talked about being a hardworker and staying focused in school. As a state representative she has had the opportunity to talk to thousands of people. I was very impressed. I loved interviewing her because I felt like Oprah!
My Interview with Mr. Thomas
Tuesday, October 4th, we had two business people acting as principals for the day. Their names were Mr. Thomas and Ms. Carter. On that day I had the opportunity to interview Mr. Thomas. At first, I didn`t know what in the world was going on. I was a little scared because I only had 15 minutes to practice. The teacher was running around, panicking, and running around some more because we were video taping the interview. I finally settled down when I saw a man walk in with Mrs. Berns (our real principal). When I interviewed Mr. Thomas, I asked him a few questions. After I was done, the students had a few questions as well. Some of our questions were:
•How has your day been so far?
•How do you feel being at Anne Frank?
•What do you do for a living?
•What college did you go to?
•How long were you in college?
•Was college hard for you?
•Have you had any other jobs?
•How do you like your present job?
•Do you have any children?
I remember only a few of his answers. He said so far his day had been great and he felt good to be at our school. College was not challenging for him. Although he had other jobs, he enjoyed his present job the most. Mr. Thomas has two grown up children who already have children. Now, he is a business manager for Trinity Christian Academy, which means he uses the schools money to pay for all the supplies and decides how many desks there are, how many teachers and so forth. I thought he was a nice man with good character and was inspiring to not only the students but to me as well. But still, I think I will stick to my dream of being on a medical team, perhaps to be a surgeon. I would be as happy to interview anyone else as much as I enjoyed interviewing Mr. Thomas.
